I drive an old 2002 Buick Park Avenue and as you may expect, it does not have any outside communication besides OnStar that no longer works.
Why? Well, Mainly as a backup in case I’m in an area with bad or no service and need to get online and also use devices like my laptop using the car’s wifi instead of trying to hook up my hotspot on my phone. Aswell as or the others that are riding with me can also have wifi if their devices don’t support it.
How? I plan to get a mobile data plan with one or more providers just a cheap limited one that is different from my phone provider as it would make no sense to get the same one. Next, get a modem that allows for SIM connectivity and hook that up to a household router. I will run an inverter that outputs 120v for those devices to work.
If I move forward with this I will show more details.
